The simple things in life are what I have built my career upon. Stability, community, friendship, hospitality, faith, these are the values I was given from growing up in rural Mississippi, and these are the core of the interior design and entertaining lifestyle company I have created in Germantown, TN. I am thankful for the encouragement and support I was given from my family. We were driven to do our best, and were instructed not to begin something if we did not intend to give it a hundred percent of ourselves. This determination has stayed with me all my life.
I am Carla Easter, an interior decorator, wife, and mother. My educational background is in floral design and interior decorating. I have worked in the floral design profession as a high-end designer and event coordinator. I have planned large events such as parties and weddings from the smallest detail such as table settings and favors to the décor and the coordinating of vendors.
I have been an interior decorator for over 10 years specializing in lifestyle decorating and creating elegant, yet comfortable spaces for my clients. I believe in beginning each project with the architecture or ‘bones’ of a room and building upon the details. I create homes for families with today’s hectic lifestyles. I like to bring out my client’s style and personality into each space. I always put the woman of the household into the spotlight. I do this by selecting colors and furnishings that will be flattering to her. I especially feel this is important in the dining room, where you want to look your best while entertaining and the bedroom, where you want to look your best no matter what!
My roots are very Southern. I was born in Vaiden, MS, and reared on a farm 45 minutes from where we went to school. We spent summers in Louisiana, where we had relatives from New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Mandeville. That is the reason I named my retail boutique Lagniappe Interiors. Southern values are very important to me and come out in my personal decorating. To me Southern decorating is not ‘country’, instead it is mixing heirloom fine furniture with old pieces of pottery, family silver and crystal, and embroidered linens. It is in the genuine hospitality of a hand-written thank you note, setting a nice table for your family, and selecting the perfect hostess gift.
I would like for people to feel it is ok to bring out your nice china and set a pretty table, instead of hiding it away until the holidays; to enjoy the beauty of a well-made bed; to realize you can sit an old farm table in the yard and decorate to rival a dining table in the finest of homes. I would like to show everyday people how to take items from around their home and garden and arrange them in a simple, yet beautiful way.
I believe you do not have to surround yourself in expensive things, to make a fine home. Instead, fine decorating is in the details, and you should surround yourself with items which show your personality. It’s about the quality of life you want to achieve. I would love the opportunity to showcase my ideas so others can gain inspiration in everyday details and to show people you can personalize your home with simple things which have sentimental value or somehow touch you.
Thank you,
