Fall in Love with Autumn

Greet Autumn guests with a welcoming entrance.

There’s a slight crisp chill to the morning air, an excitement of the approaching holiday seasons, and rich earth-tones have begun making their appearance not only in the foliage but also on our tables, front doors, and mantles.  Fall is my absolute favorite time of year.  I can hardly wait to visit the farmers’ market to select the perfect assortment of pumpkins and gourds to combine with dried bittersweet, pepper berry, and old corn stalks to transform our home with autumn’s splendor.
Fall gives you license to be creative.  I love to dig out my most rustic and worn garden urns to sit at my front entrance.  They are perfect to pile my vegetable bounty into, add draping ivy plants and pansies to cascade over the sides, and finish off the look with either an iron topiary form or entwined muscadine vine to greet guests for the season.  Rich fall colors and textures make it easy to create a decadent look.  I like to group clusters of large pumpkins on each side of my doorway in the new varieties of chocolate brown, cream, and persimmon-orange.  Then I add height with stalks of corn entangled with dried bittersweet, willow, and cascading raffia.  Simple touches, but WHAT impact.
Happy Decorating!
Carla
